Local deliveries (Brantford and surrounding area - 30k radius - only) Monday to Friday 10am to 8pm with a delivery fee of $5.00. Outside Brantford (with 30k radius) 7.00

The Awkward Fox Story

It all started with a move to Victoria BC in 2013. The cities charm snagged me right away, the salty air a stark contrast to the scent of immediate adoration.  My early attempts at culinary greatness there were - well, let's just say my first attempt at clam chowder was more of a milky, sandy surprise. But that initial awkwardness soon gave way to the fiery heart of Pizzeria Prima Strada.

Those five years were a whirlwind of flour dust and the intoxicating aroma of wood fired ovens. Starting from the ground up, I learned the rhythm of a busy kitchen, the dance of stretching dough, and the satisfying sizzle of toppings hitting the hot stone. It was there - amidst the controlled chaos, that my fascination with sauces truly ignited.

Under the guidance of seasoned chefs, I delved into the alchemy of tomatoes, herbs, and spices. I discovered the subtle sweetness of slow roasted garlic, the bright tang of fresh oregano, and the way a whisper of chili could elevate a simple marinara to something extraordinary. I experimented endlessly, tweaking ratios, tasting, and refining. It wasn't just about following recipes - it was about understanding the fundamental building blocks of flavour and learning to compose my own culinary symphonies. The more I experimented, the more I realized this wasn't just a skill - it was a genuine passion. Eventually, my dedication and, yes, my knack for crafting sauces, helped lead to my promotion to sous chef (assistant kitchen manager)

But Brantford, my roots, began to beckon. I returned home with a head full of ideas and a repertoire of sauce recipes that were uniquely mine - and that's how The Awkward Fox was born. The name itself is a little wink to my early fumbles in the kitchen, a reminder that every great culinary journey has its awkward beginnings. Now, the shelves of The Awkward Fox are lined with jars of vibrant sauces – each flourishing through my own design. A fusion of classic techniques and my own cultured twists. I've now transformed those initial awkward moments into a celebration of bold and unique flavours right here in Brantford.
